Accessories to consider for your camper
- Flexible RV Sewer Hose – in order to empty your holding tanks before leaving the campsite, you will need a good RV sewer hose kit. This attaches to the gate valve of your unit and stretches to either the septic tank at your campsite, or the dumping station at your campground. Here at Plattsburgh RV Store, we recommend the Rhinoflex flexible sewer hose kit.
- Drinking Water Hose – whether you are dry camping or visit us at Blue Haven Campground on a full service campsite, you will need a water hose to attach to your city water or fresh water tank fill. Typically white water hoses are rated as safe to use for drinking water. Check out a variety of different lengths availble through our parts store by clicking here.
- Water Pressure Regulator – not all campground water systems are created equal here in the Adirondacks – because of this, it is important to put a water pressure regulator between your water hose and your camper. This will protect your camper’s water system from particularly high pressure water systems that could potentially be damaging to your RV. Click here for an example of one that we stock at both of our Plattsburgh RV Store facilities.
- Holding Tank Treatment – this one is particularly important if you are going on an extended camping trip. Holding tank treatment comes in a variety of forms (powder, liquid, toss-in pouches) and they all do the same important job – neutralizing the odors coming from your black tank, and assisting in the breakdown of tissue/solids. We stock a wide variety of treatment options at both of our Plattsburgh RV Store locations.
- Leveling Blocks/Jack Pads – these accessories are integral to a proper setup of your camper. If you do not have an autolevel system on your RV, you will need to level your camper by placing leveling blocks beneath the tires. Purchase a sturdy, stackable set of these so that you are never left unlevel at your next stop in the Adirondacks, as this can cause a variety of problems. Jack pads should be placed under all stabilizer jacks, and even the tongue jack, to prevent the legs themselves from sinking into soft ground.
There are, of course, tons of other accessories avialble for nearly every aspect of camping, but aquiring these basics will get any new RVer off to a good start.
